Public Art Installation " The Thrown of Likes" Compressed Foam, Plaster, Encaustic, Rope, Cast Foam, Acrylic 6x4x8'
These works explore the toxic nature of social media as well as the beauty and mystery of connecting with someone in its ether. We are living in a new world of disconnect, discord, disharmony, confusion and conflict. In response, I have sculpted and casted iconic "Likes". I built this "Throne of Likes" for people to be able to take selfies surrounded by Likes. And, these hand held "Likes" are gifted as part of an interactive performance, as a physical gesture of love and as a reminder that humanity needs more social and emotional support. The work encourages interaction and has been displayed in down town New Bedford during an arts festival and at Open Studios.
